Vila Madalena's tiny converted garage houses a working 1929 letterpress that turns out incredible primary-color posters.

Journalist Phuong-Cac Nguyen's been reporting for CoolHunting.com on Sao Paulo for a few years. When the editorial team, based in the Big Apple, was invited to Brazil to cover Sao Paulo Fashion Week a few months ago, she figured Grafica Fidalga might make a great subject for the site's award-winning video series.

Three old guys with ink under their fingernails and likely embedded into the first layers of their skin produce simple, primary-color posters on a 1929 letterpress machine from Germany using woodblocks they've carved letters and images into themselves. It's amazing artistry. With help from Choque Cultural, their work has been gaining more and more attention over the past few years.

Unfortunately, the owner is selling the machine and once someone puts down the cash, they'll have to move the heavy machine out of the converted garage. It's so big and bulky they'll need to tear a wall down to get it out, but that's only after they remove the cement from around its base.

We can't introduce it better than how CoolHunting.com has done it, so head there to check it out yourself. Watching the guys work, matched by the soundtrack CoolHunting's overlaid into the video at just the right moments, gives the work a somber feeling. We'll put stills up from the video shoot over the next few weeks.
