Parque do Ibirapuera, Portao 3, Vila Mariana

11-5085-1300

Housed in one of Oscar Niemeyer’s concrete buildings under a marquise, this somber museum in Parque Ibirapuera was founded in 1948 but moved to its current digs four years later. While the size could be considered small considering the rich art culture of the fifth largest city in the world, this almost guarantees you’ll get the cream of the crop: paintings by Volpi and 21st-century industrial design shows are part of the pickings. The sculpture garden outside is a plus.
