Gay-friendly hotel on hushed part of Sao Paulo’s Castro district, Gay Caneca, considers style and taste critical. Modern, with contemporary art sprinkled throughout the lobby. Light-colored wood, also used as molding, gives rooms a bright look. Furniture is a bit on the basic Ikea side, but it’s been so well taken care of, rooms lack musty smell. Books line a wall in the beautiful restaurant, with tables arranged in an organized modular fashion and small bar separated to the side. If in a hurry or prone to getting lost, rely on the hotel’s shuttle service for rescue.
