This bar is what would happen if the New York Stock Exchange dealt in liquor instead of company stock. Straight-laced amateur and pro high rollers (read: bankers, 9 to 5 finance types) sit at touch-screen terminals stationed at tables and focus attention on the rise and fall of drink prices and make orders accordingly via white cards received at door. Think Antarctica beer like Google going IPO: Stock, or drink prices, for caipirinhas, whiskey, apple beer, cocktails like Blue Chips and Holding get more expensive the more popular they become, before prices level out and return to original. LED tickers mounted around brick, narrow bar, interrupted by vertical green walls that unconsciously remind traders to breathe, glow red, green and orange with numbers. Crowd is friendly and controlled—meaning unlike the Dow, crashes are rare. Fridays and Saturdays see one- to two-hour waits starting around 8 p.m.; no reservations accepted.
