Black-and-white photo of toothy Bob Dylan presides over festivities at downtown bar by the same people behind Astronete, who christened it after the folk singer’s eponymous songs. Bulbed letters of bar’s sign is a shining beacon, guiding souls away from rough shores of Rua Augusta's smuttier end to a safe haven of three floors, each with its own faux walnut-topped and padded-edge bar. Restored building hosts bearded, Beatle-boot-wearing, checkered-shirt-adorned, twentysomething indie rock clientele for blatantly cheap happy hour, who guzzle down beer on tap in order to get lubricated for 10 p.m. changing of the guard, when bar undergoes club metamorphosis. Bar decorators have restored building’s innards so that instead of appearing obviously themed, it looks like it's been there since the days when the center was swinging and sexy. Walls enrobed in optical art, super-low ceilings and wall lamps giving off little lighting provide the Hitchcock train-thriller setting, albeit set to soundtrack of calypso, little-known jazz and blues records and starring tattooed staff. Bottom floor hosts late-night rock and indie music, along with electro-rock bordering on bleep-bleep house tracks.
