Tucked away at the top of a hill is this delightful house turned rustic vegetarian buffet restaurant open for both lunch and dinner. On initial appearances it looks like a fruit and veggie store, but if you bypass the mannequin with bananas for hair and the produce on display in old wooden boxes, and ascend the creaky stairs, you'll find yourself in front of a huge vegetarian feast. The restaurant's aesthetics continue in all its fun, kooky glory, with mismatched wooden furniture, bare and honest decor, and impromptu patterned fabric shades. A half-circle window keeps the main room naturally lit, and a second-floor veranda out front is protected from the imposing residential high-rises by palm trees stretching up from the sidewalk, allowing a most peaceful space to enjoy the sun, free from the view of passing cars or pedestrians. The comfort food—wholesome, well made and with over 20 different dishes (and different every day)— will turn even the hardiest carnivore into a salivating mess. Finish off your meal with granola, yogurt and a fruit salad. Photos: Crispin Cairns
