Despite its name, you won't find much in the way of cheap or recycled goods in this Vila Madalena shop, whose spirit as a former house adamantly remains in both the layout of separate rooms and comfy atmosphere. Shelves and windows are full of brightly colored trinkets, jewelery, and home and garden accessories made by independent artisans—well worth a look if only for home craft inspiration. Those brave enough to make their ways through the airy boutique without making a large dent in wallets will be rewarded with an intimate garden paradise of the courtyard cafe, out back. Once installed at a table, relax over a cup of coffee or tea, indulge in a slice of Brazilian cake or a simple salad or quiche, and enjoy the little oasis of calm in the middle of a mad city.
