For such a name the owners are likely thankful that the cozy Funhouse lives up to its nomer, an old house-turned-night spot always packed with cute indie twentysomethings from Wednesday on. When they're not shaking it in the cooly dark dance room—which explains why so many of them go there to swap spit—which is curtained off from the rest of the red-light-bathed club, they're kicking back on the second floor, spread across various low-slung couches and chairs. Up there is equally raucous despite the room's obvious purpose as a lounge area, and if you didn't know better, because of the rock jukebox (with everything from Sonic Youth to The Strokes ready on cue) connected to its own sound system, you'd think you were in a totally separate bar. Grab a pre-club drink at Exquisito! across the street, helmed by the same business partners.
