Voted one of the top five best clubs in the world by Mixmag in 2005 and featuring a consistent roster of big headliners from Richie Hawtin to DJ Hell, D-Edge has maintained its status through its super-club expansion, Sao Paulo-style: vertically. First floor features bars of neon lights set in the ceiling and floor that frenetically change colors with the beat, along with giant equalizers behind the DJ booth; when that gets too crowded, drunk students, club kids and models head upstairs and shake it in a room that’s lit up like the mainframe right out of Tron with seamless stripes of lights that run overhead, onto the walls and under your feet. A wood-paneled, angular lounge area and rooftop deck with banquettes give the sweaty a chance to cool off before recharging on all the electronics going on.
