Mate-Me Por Favor (Kill Me Please), as it's affectionately known by some of its truly hardcore regulars (check their tats), serves the usual doughy suspects like chicken pie but with a twist: all are made with natural ingredients, with some vegetarian/vegan versions for the picky straightedge contingent. Quality, deliciousness and cheapness prevail. Our favorite, the deep-fried coxinha made with manioc flour, gets a veggie face lift with a palm heart filling in curry powder color, and the huge pastel is made with wholemeal chickpeas, carrots and ricotta. On the cold front, there's also acai with granola. Expect no frills because this is strictly a casual counter situation, which doesn't bother filmgoers looking for a quick grub before heading to the Unibanco movie theater across the street.
