Contrasting young and firm skaters with older and flaccid fat-burners, the local council built this mini physical activity area a stone's throw from metro Sumaré. Sunken and tucked out of sight from the main road that squeezes Sao Paulo's incessantly beeping car owners onto Avenida Paulista, this park has a fitness/warm-up area with brightly painted yellow and blue exercise contraptions that at first glance would appear to be straight out of a non-descript, 1930s factory. Stretch that brain of yours and you'll soon figure out which limb fits where and forget how stupid you look. Size isn't everything, though; the small skate park gets amateurs doing lip slides in a pool bowl with aqua-marine tiling and metal coping. While they're waiting their turn to drop in they keep busy on a concrete half pipe and a street obstacle course. Constant security ensures users of the park will burn calories through adrenaline earned through exercise and not fear. Nevertheless, bail when the park closes 'cause the area's dodgy at night.
