Invite-only bar flanked by two bouncers dressed in white suits and where Madonna reportedly swapped spit with a Brazilian boytoy model is anything but secret; getting in, however, requires some clue-ing in. Scoring an entrance gives well-connected fashionistas, musicians, models, TV personalities and their colleagues keys to a two-level abandoned building turned swank, all-black drinking den reminiscent of something between an Interpol video and Edward Scissorhands film set. Leather couches at $1,000 a pop for a night are placed in between vintage everything: retro lamps, framed oil paintings and wood furniture. The pricier room upstairs, cordoned off by a heavy velvet curtain to keep the dealings on the D.L., comes with its own impromptu bar setup. Music mix from reggae to disco keeps beautiful people on their toes, especially when Michel Gondry or Michael Stipe pop in. Exclusive, elite and expensive, with just the right amount of obnoxious to keep plebes out.
